Oliver is back to his college after the tragic death of his roommate Luke. Luke's sister and ex-boyfriend are organizing a memorial screening at an old movie theater. Only, things quickly get out of control, and soon Oli and his friends find themselves terrorized by a shadowy presence.

Limelight  is a horror-comedy slasher about a group of not-very-smart college kids finding themselves at the mercy of a ruthless killer. As such, the content is not suitable for readers under the age of 18.

Trigger Warnings: Mentions of suicide, descriptions of violence, death.

Limelight  was created for the NovemBuck 2025 Jam.  While the story is complete, there may be small updates in the future to add more assets or further polish to the visual novel. There are also plans for a Brazilian Portuguese translation.

I do love me a good comedy horror/silly slasher, and I ate this up like I do a large popcorn every time I see a movie.

Cheers!

I had the opportunity to read this visual novel a while ago and decided I should leave a review. It was definitely something new, a new experience in a genre I don't often touch upon, so it was also a bit of a refresher compared to previous visual novels I've read. The action and atmosphere quickly shift from sunny to cloudy to bloody. There's never a dull moment. The characters are also introduced quickly, and we learn more about some of them over time. Slow starts aren't my favorite, so I like that we don't dwell on everything. What really sold it to me was the fact that, honestly, I constantly didn't know what to expect. As soon as I felt I knew where the story was going, I'd be hit with a twist. There are also moments of comedy, which are interestingly placed and add a good balance to the horror aspect. I didn't feel like the characters fell into any stereotypical character traits for the genre, so each one offered something unique. It's a shame not all the characters got equal screen time, as I'd love to know more about them. Regardless, I had a good time reading it; it's funny, suspenseful, and surprising.

"He was just a good friend like that."

"He was like family."
"What was his last name?"

This story's got killer lines, killer looks and actual killers. The music was super on point. What more could you ask for? Well actually, I would ask for more. A large part of the story felt serious(ish), and I think it could've used more ridiculous. But overall, had a great time reading this.
